EYHO NY: Izakaya NoMad
After spending a week in NYC, this West Coaster is feeling the Big Apple. During my stay in Chelsea, I was overwhelmed by the amount of insanely amazing restaurants within a two block stretch. This week’s Cheap Date is for my palette savvy hipsters in Chelsea. Izakaya NoMad is a Japanese Gastropub in the heart of the Flat Iron District or the “NoMad Area.” With $3.50 - $5.00 Yakitori sticks including Bacon Wrapped Asparagus (personal favorite), Short Rib, and their specialty “Rocket” Tsukune - Chicken Meatball with Free range egg yolk & yuan dipping sauce, everyone wins. The real stand out though, is the $8.00 sake which the serve in a wine glass… a FULL wine glass. Make it late-night with their Buta pork (Tonkotsu) Ramen served only after 10 pm. Perfect before or after a night of debauchery with your SO. From the insanely delicious food to the pop art Japanese mural featuring a Godzilla attack, all my Urban Kings and Edgar Allan Faux’s have found their cheap date mecca. Just be careful, everything is so delicious, this cheap date could become a splurge. You’re welcome.
