#MusicMonday: Valentine’s Day Edition
A lot of people hate on Valentine’s Day. Couples feel pressure to make it special and cool couples feel pressure to not GAF and single people feel that the world is mocking them. For a second I felt tempted to buy into the hype and create an “anti-Vday” playlist filled with songs like Crystal Castles’ “Not in Love” and Lil Kim’s “Suck My Dick” and Peaches’ “Fuck the Pain Away.” But that would be obvious and Labeling Men doesn’t not pay me to be obvious. It may come as a surprise that this DJ Mustard worshiping Trapstar occasionally listens to music that addresses neither getting turnt nor homicide. I’ve always found music the easiest way to access feelings. Nicki fills me with a feminine confidence; Kanye helps me access my inner rage; Das Racist makes me laugh; Elliott Smith makes me cry.
