#MusicMonday: “White Iverson” by Post Malone

Ya ya ya the new Drake is great, but as a fickle-Franny who’s always chasing the next big thing, I’m losing it this week (along with the entire Internet) over previously unknown Post Malone’s phresh new track, “White Iverson.” According to his Soundcloud, the braided Dallas rapper has a whopping inventory of three songs, all produced by Atlanta duo FKi. Blogs have called his flow “gurgle-rap” and his sound “Trap&b,” which I guess are things(?), and Complex has boldly deemed “White Iverson” to be “the hardest song released in 2015 so far.” Many a Dej Loaf and ILoveMakonnen comparison has been made, but all I hear is PartyNextDoor’s “Wus God/ Curious.” They’re like lawsuit-worthy similar. And if Drake decides against pursuing a cause of action, I’m looking forward to hearing his verse. That said, ya’ll need to take a quick break from If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (lawd Drake could you be any more emo?) and shake yo braids to “White Iverson.” I personally cannot stop.
