MUSE: Cameron Moir

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, we were able to hang out with our favorite up-and-coming British actor, Cameron Moir. Born on Jersey Island, a British island by France that is about 5-10 miles across, Moir cultivated his passion for acting. With an impressive academic resume, including a year at Kingston studying fashion and another round at the esteemed Cambridge University studying acting under Rauder, before Moir moved to New York where he graduated from the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting. “I’ve always been acting since I was young, like 8 years old, just watching TV shows and what not. I was just exposed to a lot of Shakespeare at a young age and a lot of poetry and whatnot through my school and I had elocution lessons where I would recite poetry, but I’ve always loved film.” Moir has seen all mediums of the industry and still counts acting as his favorite. “I love storytelling and the fact that film makes people feel better. It might sound cheesy, but it gets people through hard times and it’s like a break from your daily life.”

Moir’s gift for the theatrics has not gone unnoticed. He was named as one of 20 New Comers to watch from BAFTA and is now in LA to plant some roots and film some exciting new projects. His latest ventures include “An Englishman in LA,” which follows a British writer who comes to LA to watch his best-selling novel get turned into a cheesy Hollywood film. “Its kind of like a coming of age story, like a boy becoming a man. He gets thrown around by all of these Hollywood stereotypes and he has to stand up for himself,” Moir explained. Moir is no stranger to the subject matter as writer himself and past experience filming his own Hollywood feature film with the likes of Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, and Oscar winner Lupita Nyongo. “All the hard work I had put into my career finally paid off when you get to work on such a big film,” says Moir, who sites Julianne Moore as an acting inspiration. “[Moore] is someone I have aspired to my entire life. I had actually written on a piece of paper her name as one of the actors I wanted to work with just a couple of months before I had gotten that part.” Moir is definitely one to watch, and with unwavering British charm and clear skill, we are in store for many more amazing projects.

We got to sit down with Moir for a game of 21 Questions to get a feel for his loves outside of the acting world as well as his own personal style profile. “I feel like I’m the most wild in London, the most - uh, what’s the word - I don’t want to say like chic, because that’s such a silly word, but tailored. I always make an effort, it doesn’t matter where I am going in New York, I’m going to make an effort because everyone looks good. In California, I’m so much more relaxed, I just wear so many tank tops and sweat pants and I kind of like that. I feel like LA is very freeing because no one cares that much so you can actually stand out more in LA.” Serving up some California-cool vibes, we took a stroll through Los Feliz to get some snap shots in Moir’s new home base.
